Red Bird Mission, Kentucky
Members of Grace join with members of the Hurtsboro United Methodist Church, Hurtsboro, Alabama and Trinity
United Methodist Church, Phenix City, Alabama, to send a team to Redbird Mission's Work Camp each spring. Over
the past years teams have worked constructing ramps and porches, repairing houses, building a large shed to hold construction
supplies, assisting with medical and dental records, helping in the Community Store, doing needed clean-up and helping at
the Senior Center, sorting lables, and doing other tasks as needed.
All church members and friends can be a part
of this team as well by saving Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education from Campbell's Soup and other
products. These labels help Red Bird fund school bus routes, equipment for Red Bird School, and other needed items.
Please deposit labels in the designated boxes in Friendship Hall, Memorial Fellowship Hall, and near the Church Office.
The work team will take the labels on their next trip to Red Bird.
Habitat for Humanity
Grace UMC is part
of the We Help Coalition along with a number of other area churches. This coalition works to raise funds to constuct
housing as part of Habitat for Humanity. Each year two primary fundraisers are held: Blueberry Sales in June (and as
long as the blueberries are harvested) and the annual Cookie Walk in December. The coalition is presently working on
another house in the Auburn community.
One way Grace supports Alabama Rural Ministry is by
providing space for meetings with clients and for other activities. Members of the Grace family provide financial
support and also serve as members of ARM and help in other ways.
Grace UMC contributes
monetarily each month to the Community Market. In addition individuals and groups work in the Community Market periodically.
Spurred by our Vacation Bible School's adoption this summer of the Community Market as its mission project, our members
continue to provide plastic bags, egg cartons, food, and funds to the Market.
